Totem Automobili’s Final Alfa Romeo Build Might Be The Greatest Restomod Out There

Wonderful restomods are ten a penny these days. There are companies reviving old Volvo P1800s and others making (apparently) divisive restored Porsche 911s. Now, however, we’ve reached peak restomod with this wonderful Alfa Romeo racer built by Italian coachbuilders Totem Automobili.

Called the GTAmodificata, the latest creation from the Italian company is basically one final bow from its series of restored Alfa Romeo Giulias. So far, the company has created an electrified version of the classic Alfa and a GT-focused model. Now, it’s hitting the race track with its GTAmodificata.

For its final recreation, Totem Automobili has upped the power, upgraded the suspension and spec’d the car out to hit the race track. As such, this beautiful creation now comes with 810 hp that’s produced by a 3.2 liter twin-turbo V6 engine. That power, which is all sent directly to the rear wheels, is enough to take the GTAmodificata from zero to 62 in just 2.6 seconds. That’s even quicker than the company’s GTelectric can manage.

The rebuild on the old Alfa Romeo is about much more than simply stuffing in a few extra horses worth of power, however. As such, the GTAmodificata has undergone an extensive weight-saving regimen, shaving 440 pounds off the GTsuper. That’s thanks to a whole heap of carbon fiber being used throughout the car, including across the bodywork, which remains paint-free to show off the intricate weave on display.

And what a display it is, this thing looks fantastic! It’s actually nearly eight inches wider than the GTsuper thanks to a new body kit that was created to house wider, track-ready tires. There’s also a set of forged aluminum wheels, which are wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo R rubber.

Sadly, just five of these marvelous creations will be built by Totem Automobili, each with a lovely splash of color on the front bumper, which houses a custom six-light array for when you’re racing at night.

You’ll have to be mighty brave to take this creation racing at night, however. Not because of its 810hp motor, but rather because of its eye-watering price, which Top Gear puts at more than a million dollars.

This is an awful lot to spend on an aging Alfa, but just look at it! This could be the restomod to end all restomods.
