Wrexham eye two huge deals
Wrexham are reportedly eyeing Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris and Sheffield Wednesday forward Lee Gregory, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.
Both Gregory and Clarke-Harris are playing above League Two level with their current clubs and would have to take a drop down to join Wrexham in England’s fourth tier.
But it wouldn’t be the first time that the Welsh club had convinced talent to join them in a lower division with the likes of Paul Mullin making the decision to do so in 2021.
Wrexham currently sit in second place in the league just four points off top spot despite only gaining promotion from the National League last season.
Gyokeres to stay at Sporting
Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks.
But the Sweden and Sporting Lisbon striker has promised to stay in Portugal until the end of the season.
Gyokeres said: “I’m very happy here and I don’t care about any interested parties at the moment.
“I’m enjoying every day here and not thinking about what’s going on around me. Yes, there’s talk of big clubs, but for now it’s just news. That’s all.”
Ange wants squad depth
Ange Postecoglou is desperate for more additions to his squad but is not expecting a late Christmas miracle in the transfer market.
The Spurs gaffer said: “We are where we are. The transfer window? Nothing magical is going to happen in the window. What we need to do is keep building.
“We’ll see what we can do in January, but ultimately it’s about building a side to get us where we want to get to.
“It has tested the limits of our ability to pay the football we want in the context of the injuries we have.
“It would be unfair to judge some players, the way we play takes a hefty physical toll compared to how other clubs play. For us to sustain it, we need a strong squad and we’re nowhere near that at the moment.”
