Triple M Perth’s Katie Lamb finally gets her time with the Matildas in hilarious, mockery interview

She may not have legally changed her name to Matilda as planned, but Katie Lamb has been left fangirling over Matildas’ stars Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy.

In a hilarious interview titled “What happens when the Matildas give in and let me chat with the gals”, the Triple M radio presenter sat down with the talented duo in what appears to be a set-up stunt.

“Just three Matildas/best friends catching up. @alannakennedy & @mackenziearnold understood the assignment, absolute legends @matildas,” Lamb captioned the video, which has already been played over 38,000 times.

In the casual-style chat after the Tillies 8-0 win against the Philippines in Perth, Lamb provided Kennedy with some solid words of advice.

“Little bit of feedback just from me, Lani – I can call you Lani right?,” she joked.

“Yeah, get on with it,” Kennedy replied.

Lamb continued: “You’re a defender, Tony and I are sort of wanting you to score more goals just from halfway.”

Starring down the barrel of the camera, Kennedy reminisced on a prior achievement: “If you just wanna insert my goal from halfway,” she quipped.

But Lamb needed the last laugh.

“Oh, a few years ago… yeah,” she replied.

Goalie Arnold could be seen giggling at the back and forth.

But Kennedy wasn’t letting Lamb get away that easily.

“As a professional athlete – you might not understand,” she joked.

“Oh I do play division one netball,” Lamb replied, before Kennedy jumped in mocking the local athlete, asking “Wing defence? Goal attack?”

However it was the final burn that left the three sports stars in a fit of laughter.

Lamb went in for the kill.

“You know how sometimes you play defence,” she said, looking at Kennedy, before swiftly adding “and on the bench.”

Clapping at the witty remark, Arnold joked: “That was decent, I like that.”

And Kennedy couldn’t help but agree.

“Yeah that was good, f…ing sly dog,” Kennedy added, laughing.

Perth locals including sketch trio Kick It Forward and former AFL great Xavier Ellis were quick to share in the humorous take.

Others left comments such as “brilliant” and “so funny”.

One even went as far as to compare the stunt to an Olympic medal.

“You know what @alannakennedy @mackenziearnold if you don’t get a medal next year at least you have this video which is GOLD,” they said.

Lamb is known for her A-grade Tillies content, which she shares to her 24.2k Instagram followers.
