The temple trust spent Rs.11 crore for the construction of the additional hostel block.
YV Subba Reddy recalled that the TTD established SV orphanage in Tirupati in 1943 with a noble aim to provide free shelter and education to the orphan children. In 1961, the then Prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy visited the SV orphanage and advised the temple trust to rename the orphanage as SV Balamandir.
The Tirupati trust immediately renamed the orphanage as SV Balamandir and established a dedicated trust to raise funds for efficient functioning of the trust.
Meanwhile, the TTD chairman also inaugurated a waiting hall for patients attendants at Sri Venkateswara institute of medical sciences in Tirupati on Thursday.
