TWO coastguard helicopters were scrambled to a popular beach amid reports a father and two sons might have got into difficulty.
The pair of rescue helicopters descended on Barmouth Beach in Gwynedd, north Wales, this evening.
The rescue helicopters were spotted circling around the beach, while an RNLI lifeboat was also scrambled to the scene.
Cops have urged people to stay away from the area while the incident is ongoing.
A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “We are currently assisting HM Coastguard with an incident on Barmouth Beach.
“We kindly ask people to keep away from the area while emergency services deal with the incident.”
Locals tonight claimed that those involved are “two boys and their dad”, reports MailOnline.
Well-wishers have taken to social media, with one posting on Facebook that they hope the search around Barmouth Beath “has a happy ending”.
Another posted that they could see two helicopters, a boat and “so many” police at the scene.
HM Coastguard has been approached for comment by The Sun.
