The Hornets like the midfielder’s experience and want him to sign in case the Blades come back for him when their takeover bid is settled.

Osborn, 29, made 24 Premier League appearances for Sheffield United last season, registering two assists in the process.

He left Bramall Lane having represented the club some 230 times over the course of five years.

Watford aren’t the only club interested in swooping in for Osborn though.

Newly promoted Championship outfit Derby are also keen on Osborn who was born in Derby himself.

However the Rams also have other midfield targets on their list.

Another ex-Blade is also looking to earn themselves a spot in the Championship next term too.
