Global retailer Uniqlo announced on Monday retail expansion plans in the U.S. and Canada for the coming year.

In particular, the brand aims to double its store openings from the current year, which includes more than 20 new locations across North America in 2024. The slated new Uniqlo stores set to open in spring 2024 include strategic locations across the U.S. and Canada, with a particular emphasis on the eastern and western regions.
In the U.S., these locations include Tacoma Mall (Tacoma, Washington), Alderwood Mall (Lynnwood, Washington), South Shore Plaza (Braintree, Massachusetts), Providence Place (Providence, Rhode Island – a new market), and Staten Island Mall (Staten Island, New York). In Canada, Uniqlo will be opening stores at CF Fairview Mall (Toronto), CF Market Mall (Calgary), Scarborough Town Centre (Toronto), and Bayshore Shopping Centre (Ottawa).
“We couldn’t be more excited to enter the next phase of our North American expansion plan and serve more customers in the U.S. and Canada,” said Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO of Uniqlo North America.
“Stores are the heartbeat of our business, where we can engage with our local communities, hear directly from our customers, and best understand their needs to continue to improve and perfect our products. We’re looking forward to a big year ahead.”
Uniqlo made its debut in the U.S. in 2005, with its lineup of LifeWear for men, women, and kids. The expansion follows the momentum the brand initiated in 2022 to reach 200 stores in North America by 2027. It currently operates 53 in the U.S., 19 in Canada, and an online presence at uniqlo.com.
Uniqlo’s fiscal year ending on August 31, 2023, reported significant growth in North America, and the company anticipates continued success in 2024. While accelerating new store openings, Uniqlo also aims for double-digit sales growth in its existing locations.
