UPSC Civil Services 2nd Topper Animesh Pradhan started his UPSC preparation without any coaching, relying instead on his own dedication and perseverance.
UPSC Civil Services Latest Update: The UPSC Civil Services Examination Final Result 2023 was declared on April 16, 2024 and Animesh Pradhan, a graduate from NIT Rourkela, secured All India Rank 2 in his first attempt. It is interesting to note that Animesh’s journey to this accomplishment is both inspiring and motivational.
It is noteworthy to mention that Animesh started his UPSC preparation without any coaching, relying instead on his own dedication and perseverance. His determination to succeed UPSC was profoundly evident when he lost his mother to cancer just a month before his final interview round. He had to overcome the loss and prepare for the exam at the same time.
He lost his mother after the death of his father in December 2015 during his Class 11 studies. He came under immense personal challenges, yet Animesh remained steadfast in his pursuit of success, attributing much of it to the unwavering support and inspiration he received from his parents.
After cracking his interview, he said he started preparing for the civil services exam in 2022 and used to study for 6-7 hours. He added that he completed his entire education in Odisha.
Animesh Pradhan’s UPSC Preparation Without Any Coaching
Animesh Pradhan said he prepared for the UPSC exam without any coaching classes and he said he wished to work at the grassroots and wanted to play a role in offering essential services such as education and healthcare to “marginalised” communities.
Natively from Talcher town in Odisha’s Angul district, Pradhan’s academic journey started at Kendriya Vidyalaya in his hometown. Animesh later pursued his passion for technology, graduating in computer science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela.
