Valentino new London flagship debuts on Sloane Street

Valentino has opened the doors of a major new flagship on upscale Sloane Street in London, which it said continues the label’s “evolution towards a more intimate, design-led retail dimension”.

It’s an impressive space set over four floors with distinctive areas dedicated to accessories, ready-to-wear and private client spaces, “defined by a unique chromatic treatment that nods to Valentino’s iconic motifs”.

The company said that like its other stores, “each floor’s design is based on a distinctive visual narrative whose starting point are the Maison’s colours, from the use of red as well as ivory and black. In all its visual richness, the resulting environment remains neutral”, allowing it to emphasise the collection’s aesthetic.

From the street, the traditional white stone facade offers a glimpse into the store’s ground floor, with two full height windows dedicated to RTW displays. While the design adapts to the unique features of the building, it also has “the environmental identity already explored with 645 Madison Avenue in New York”.

The ground floor space features a chequered motif on the marble floors, acting as a foundation to display accessories on backlit black marble shelves with bespoke plexiglas modules.

Ivory wallcoverings “connect the room to the architecture, referencing the stone building with a softer approach on straight and curvilinear walls”. There’s also a bespoke lighting installation on the ceiling that “nods to the Rockstud”, the famous trimming used on its bags and shoes.

A red staircase leads to the ivory-toned first floor where its shoe collections can be found. Seating is crucial both here and in the rest of the store and comes in the form of B&B Italia’s Camaleonda by Mario Bellini. While minimal black accents offer some elements of contrast, Valentino Rosso is key.

On the second floor, there’s a different mood for the RTW collections, with the ivory wallcovering contrasting with a black Versailles wooden floor and the same chequered motif from the ground floor replicated on the carpet. The space opens onto a private fitting room furnished with red seating.

The top floor is dedicated to private clients and combines a red carpet and seating with mirrored walls and ceilings, plus elements in ivory and black — “a space whose interiors nod to London’s 1970s interior design movements”.

The new store carries a limited edition Valentino Garavani VSLING bag and clients will also be able to access the brand’s Made-to-Order service of a selection of exclusive ready to wear items available in-store.
