BRITS face more strike misery – with train drivers set to stage a series of walkouts.
Train drivers on LNER will stage more walkouts, the Aslef rail union said.
They will strike every Saturday between August 31 and November 9, inclusive.
They will also strike on every Sunday from September 1 to November 10, also inclusive.
The union blamed a rift in industrial relations and the breaking of agreements by LNER bosses.
Aslef general secretary Mick Whelan said: “The continued failure of the company to resolve long-standing industrial relations issues has forced us into this position.
“We would much rather not be here. But the company has brutally, and repeatedly, broken diagramming and roster agreements.
“It has failed to adhere to the agreed bargaining machinery, and totally acted in bad faith.”
He added: “When we make an agreement, we stick to it. This company doesn’t.
“And we are not prepared to put up with their boorish behaviour and bullying tactics.
“‘We want the company to sit down with us, talk sensibly, and start doing the right thing.
“The ball is now in their court. They can stop these strikes by behaving properly, decently, and abiding by agreements they made.”
In April LNER drivers walked out in a dispute over terms and conditions.
The strike disrupted services between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley, and between King’s Cross and Leeds.
