Premier Roger Cook has confirmed that homes have sadly been lost in the bushfire raging through Peel’ south-west region.
The bushfires, which started Saturday, in the shires of Waroona and Murray remain out of control and are at an Emergency Warning levels, posing a threat to lives and homes.
Mr Cook said Monday that hundreds of firefighters were working to “battle this blaze in extremely challenging conditions”.
“We’re extremely proud of our volunteer and career firefighters who have done an outstanding job,” he said.
The Premier said two outbuildings had been “impacted” and the Government understood homes had been lost.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services was expected to provide further details on how many homes were damaged later on Monday.

An evacuation centre has been set up by the Department of Communities at the Murray Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Pinjarra, where there will be a community meeting at 2pm.
“This is an incredibly difficult time for the Waroona community and again, I’d like to thank everyone who has worked to keep the community safe,” Mr Cook said.
“Our hearts go out to that community and we want people to remain vigilant and to follow the advice on Emergency WA and keep safe.
“Our thoughts are with you.”
