WATCH: Huge tiger shark reeled in off Port Kennedy following SW attack in video shared on social media

A stunning video of a massive tiger shark being reeled in off the coast is doing the rounds online after a man was attacked by a suspected great white in WA’s southwest.

However, the video’s owner says the footage was captured a week ago off Port Kennedy.

Bryan Rogers and his mate’s 17-year-old son took turns fighting the 3.6m tiger shark for an hour.

The experienced fisherman says you can catch sharks off the beach in Port Kennedy most nights.

“We hooked the shark around 6 (pm) and landed just after 7,” he said.

“We don’t use any sort of burley at all, it’s just natural baits that we kayak out.”

Rogers said that he goes fishing with the aim to catch sharks, which are then tagged and released.

“No sharks are out the water for longer than two minutes and they’re always getting water from waves,” he said.

“We never pull them out completely.”

Rogers said he was against any sort of shark fishing ban off the WA coast and wanted to make it clear that in his opinion, shark fishing does not bring the animals closer to shore.

“To be honest the shark fishing bans will do nothing at all,” he said. “There are always sharks out there and more than most believe.”

Following the attack in the State’s south-west, Rogers said he was against a cull.

“To be honest I don’t believe in sharks being killed at all,” he said.

“We enter the water at our own risk, they do not come onto our land and attack us, we are going into the place where they live.
