Sharing her background, Russell introduced herself by saying, “I sang music my whole life. I love writing. I’m a songwriter at 24. Music is my passion. I don’t perform as much now, but I grew up singing on the road with my grandma, who is a country singer.”
When Bryan asked about her grandmother, Russell proudly identified her as Loretta Lynn. She showcased her grandmother’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, where she and her mother, country singer Patsy Lynn, spent their formative years.
The judges noticed Russell’s shy demeanor, but she explained that she aims to establish her own identity as a musician. She expressed her desire to step forward and claim her own voice.
