Western Bulldogs young gun Ryley Sanders runs the wrong way against Geelong

Western Bulldogs young gun Ryley Sanders had a moment to forget during Saturday night’s AFL clash against Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

Sanders impressively won a centre clearance on centre wing, but then inexplicably ran in the wrong direction.

He took two bounces and ran close about 40m before realising his error.

As teammates all pointed, the 19-year-old finally turned around and kicked the ball back to pretty much where he started.

“He’s going to the wrong way. The young fella is going dead set the wrong way!” James Brayshaw said in commentary.

Richmond great Matthew Richardson added: “It has happened a bit over the years.”

Sanders was unfazed by the error and could be seen with a smile on his face shortly after.

The club also had a laugh on social media by referencing teammate Caleb Poulter.

“Poults been doing 1:1’s with him at training,” the club tweeted.

Poulter did the exact same thing in his Western Bulldogs debut last year.

Sanders was taken with pick No.6 in last year’s draft and has played every game so far this season.
