Are you ready for some football? If you’re like this one little fan, you might be excited to see your favorite player, Taylor Swift, in Denver this weekend.
While we don’t know for sure whether or not T-Swift will attend Sunday’s game at Empower Field between the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs, her suspected relationship with KC tight end Travis Kelce has become slightly more official.
In recent weeks, they’ve been spotted holding hands, and one photo even shows Swift kissing Kelce on the cheek. The Chiefs have been on a hot streak since she appeared in box seats, leading coach Andy Reid to tell the press “Taylor can stay around all she wants.”
As many football and music fans likely know, Swift cheered on the Chiefs last Sunday from a box in Arrowhead Stadium. She departed the game with Kelce and the two then dined in a private room at Piropos Restaurant, one of the football player’s favorite eateries in Kansas City, Entertainment Tonight reported.
The last time local Swifties saw the singer was at Empower Field in July when she performed two nights on her Eras Tour. If she attends, Denver would mark just the second Chiefs road game she traveled to.
Here are 10 places where we think Swelce (Tayvis? Traylor?) should hit in Denver while they’re here.
Don’s Club Tavern
Chiefs loyalists rock red and yellow every football Sunday at Don’s Club Tavern. Any fan – or player – will feel at home here.
Ragin’ Hog BBQ
Anyone craving a taste of Kansas City barbecue should stop by Ragin’ Hog BBQ in Denver’s Berkeley neighborhood. It reminds our food reporter of Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que with coleslaw so good you could practically drink it.
El Taco de Mexico
Perhaps the duo is craving something authentically Denver. They’re in luck because it’s green chile season. For nearly 40 years, El Taco de México has been serving up the staple dish. It even earned a James Beard “Classics Award” in 2020.
Beckon
Colorado is the latest state to receive Michelin star accolades. Beckon, Denver’s first tasting-only restaurant, seems like an apt fit for the pair since everyone there is treated like a celebrity.
The Post Chicken & Beer
We know T-Swift is a fan of chicken tenders and one of the best places in Denver to find them – served with house ranch – is at The Post Chicken & Beer. The restaurant also makes its own beer, so the singer could cash in on another Denver dietary staple all in one trip.
Casa Bonita
Dining at Casa Bonita is still an invite-only affair. But if Ed Sheeran can get in, surely Swelce can too.
Death & Co.
Multiple T-Swift songs mention drinking whiskey and whiskey cocktails, which has led some to speculate that it’s her favorite spirit. Denver’s Death & Co. cocktail bar knows how to mix the classics and make a mean original libation. That’s what landed it on the inaugural list of North America’s 50 Best Bars in 2022.
Denver Cat Company
Fun fact: Swift is a cat person and mom to three famous felines named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button. She’ll likely be missing her fur babies, which is why she should stop by Denver Cat Company on Tennyson Street.
Safta
Swift always keeps hummus in her fridge. So we suggest she hit Safta and grab some to satisfy her cravings. Westword awarded the Mediterranean restaurant purveyor of the best hummus and pita in 2022.
Snooze
Kelce’s pre-game meal is French toast and strawberries. Denver’s distinguished brunch spot, Snooze A.M. Eatery, offers multiple French toast plates plus strawberry shortcake pancakes.
