The winner of this year’s Gold Logie has been announced, capping off a glittering celebration of Australian TV at the 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards.
Held at The Star in Sydney and televised on the channels of Seven and 7plus, the star-studded “night of nights” got underway with a red-carpet spectacular hosted by Gold Logie nominee Sonia Kruger and beloved TV personality Dr Chris Brown.

After the frocks and tuxes had been rocked on the red carpet, the awards ceremony kicked off, hosted by The Front Bar comedian Sam Pang — the show’s first solo host in more than a decade.
And taking out the coveted TV WEEK Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television for 2024 was Sonia Kruger.
TV icon and Dancing with the Stars co-host Daryl Somers — himself a Gold Logie winner — was the one to present the award.
“I want to thank all the people who work on Dancing With The Stars, all the people who work on The Voice, all the people who work on Big Brother,” Sonia said as she accepted the award.
I want to thank God aka James Warburton who is a genius; my family, their names escape me,” she joked.
“They know who they are. That is good.
“Backstage Chris (Brown) and I were walking around and there is a mural that says hosting is not about what you do, it is about how you make other people feel.
“And I thought, ‘that is so true’.
“And tonight, you guys, all your support, you have made me feel so good.”
Sonia went on to thank Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac for coming up with her “campaign slogan”, “Onya Sonia.”
“He owns the intellectual property rights now apparently, so all the merchandise will go to Sam Mac,” she joked.
“But thank you so much. I don’t know what else to say.
“So many people to thank and so little time.
“I will be sending out apology letters to everybody that I haven’t thanked tonight.
“Go and party, have a good time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
‘Gold Logie-winning mum’
Previously speaking with 7Life about the win, Sonia joked that her daughter may just have to start calling her “Gold Logie-winning Mum”.
Talking about how she would celebrate the win, she said, “I have no idea what would happen in that situation!”
“I think the expression on my face would most likely be ‘deer in the headlights’.
“Bear in mind, Sunrise has got a huge outside broadcast set up the next day (for the winners), so if it were to happen…
“Look, I don’t imagine there would be a lot of sleep involved, somehow.
Ahead of the award show, fellow nominee Hamish spoke with red carpet hosts Sonia and Dr Chris Brown, who joked about their predictions for the win.
“Sonia and I had the calculator out before and were running numbers. I see you won the Gold Logie in 2012 and in 2022,” Chris told him.
“Yep,” Hamish laughed.
“So, by our calculations you’re not due to win the Gold until 2032,” Chris said.
“I do think we might be standing here with tonight’s Gold Logie winner and they ain’t in a tuxedo,” Hamish said of fellow nominee Sonia.
