Why Kaizer Chiefs’ Johnson is honoured to coach in a derby

The second Soweto Derby is an exciting event for Kaizer Chiefs’ Cavin Johnson says he is honoured to coach in it.

Chiefs will face Orlando Pirates and Johnson will be in charge of the Glamour Boys at FNB Stadium on Saturday

Johnson also labels the derby as the biggest spectacle in the world as it ranks at number 10 in soccer matches.

In addition, this weekend’s Soweto Derby between Chiefs and Pirates is the 180th derby in history.

Johnson looks at the match that will attract scores of fans and says he hopes Chiefs fans will outnumber those of Pirates.

A win for Johnson and his Chiefs troops will see them overtake Pirates to the second place, he explains why it’s a privilege for him.

“We have prepared ourselves well for this particular derby,” says Johnson ahead of the Soweto Derby.

“And we’re going to go out and enjoy ourselves in front of the 100,000 that we expect to come.

“I’m sure about 99,000 will be Chiefs fans.

“But we expect that and we’re going to go out and do our best.”

WHY JOHNSON IS EXCITED BY THE SOWETO DERBY

Johnson wants to win for Chiefs after losing the first one last year at the same venue.

“It’s always a big, big, big, big honour to be able to play in this particular Derby,” adds the Chiefs coach, Johnson.

“Classified as one of the top 10 in the world, you don’t get many.

“And when you’re the coach of such a big institution like Kaizer Chiefs.

“And you’re playing against another big institution like Orlando Pirates.

“So we need to take that same energy into the game, and enjoy the game from both sides.

“But we do know that we have to fight for the bragging rights of the derby within the African continent.”
