AN ELDERLY woman has died after a horror blaze ripped through a house in Lanarkshire yesterday morning.
Emergency crews raced to the property on Pleamuir Place in Cumbernauld at around 9am.
Police were also called to the scene at 11am after receiving reports of a fire at a house
Tragically, a 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines to fight the blaze.
Police have launched a joint investigation with fire crews to establish the cause of the fire.
Police confirmed it is believed that there are “no suspicious circumstances” behind the fire.
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.56am on Saturday, February 10, to reports of a dwelling fire on Pleamuir Place, Cumbernauld.
“Operations control mobilised four fire appliances to the area. Crews worked tirelessly to make the area safe before leaving the scene at 3.45pm.”
Police Scotland, said: “Around 11am on Saturday, 10 February, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire at a premises in the Pleamuir Place area of Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services attended and a 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No one else was injured.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. However, there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.”
