World-famous celebrity chef spotted in Cape Town

People spotted the world-famous British celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, in Cape Town this weekend.

Jamie Oliver’s casual approach to cuisine

People all over the world know the British chef for his casual approach to cuisine. He is also an advocate for healthy eating and proper food education.

His take on nutrition and home cooking has impacted households, cafeterias and more, as he encourages fresh, wholesome meals, as reported by capetownetc.

Jamie Oliver’s down to earth personality has won him masses of fans around the world. He has sold millions of cookery books and also starred in several TV shows.

This celebrity chef started young

Oliver was born in 1975 and brought up in Clavering, Essex, England. His parents, Trevor and Sally, ran a pub called The Cricketers. It was there that the young Jamie began to cut his teeth as a chef and would practice daily in the kitchen. By the time he was 11, the young protégé could cut vegetables as well as any of the kitchen staff.

In 2005, he initiated a campaign called ‘Feed Me Better’ in order to move British schoolchildren towards eating healthy foods and cutting out junk food. As a result, the British government also pledged to address the issue.

Oliver dines at two Cape Town restaurants

Though the exact reasons for Oliver’s trip to South Africa are not yet known, Eat Out has reported on two restaurants that have wined and dined the chef thus far.

The chef was seen dining at two restaurants in Cape Town over the past weekend.

Firstly, TTK Fledgelings, a restaurant in Woodstock, a suburb of Cape Town, hosted Jamie Oliver. This restaurant runs an upliftment programme that empowers aspiring chefs to hone their skills. Luke Dale Roberts, celebrated chef and restaurateur, guides students at the restaurant. His multi-award-winning restaurant, The Test Kitchen, used to be in the same location.

Additionally, Oliver dined at a restaurant in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, PIER, led by head chef John Norris-Rogers. The fine-dining restaurant won the Africa’s Best Restaurant 2023 award by the World Culinary Awards
