Xbox teases fans with a sneak peek at the next-gen console

FANS have been despairing this month with rumours that Xbox games will soon be available on other consoles.

The belief was that if Xbox lost its exclusive games, then the company would soon stop making consoles.

In a recent podcast, Xbox confirmed that some games would be coming to other platforms, but that it didn’t mean the end for Xbox consoles.

Even though its games will be available elsewhere, Xbox claims it is committed to continuing to create new hardware platforms.

In the podcast, Xbox president Sarah Bond revealed: “We’ve got more to come.

“There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. We’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap.

“What we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions that they’re building.”

The ‘holiday’ Sarah refers to is the holiday season, meaning that our first look at Xbox’s new hardware will come in November/December this year.

Speaking to The Verge, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said: “I’m very proud of the work that the hardware team is doing, not only for this year but also into the future.

“[We’re] really thinking about creating hardware that sells to gamers because of the unique aspects of the hardware.

“It’s kind of an unleashing of the creative capability of our hardware team that I’m really excited about.”

While there are rumours that an Xbox handheld will be coming in the future, Spencer has previously shared his concerns.

He claims the weak point of most PC handhelds – outside of the Steam Deck – is that Windows is not the optimal operating system to play games on.

It seems that Microsoft would work on an operating system designed specifically for handheld gaming before a portable Xbox console is announced.
