Yagan Square’s PERTH sign will have a spring fling with florals as it is given a colourful burst of blooms on Friday September 1, making it the ultimate backdrop for a selfie over the following three weeks.
Floral artist Clare “The Flower Girl” Cummings will transform the giant landmark letters at the base of the digital tower on Wellington Street from 5am, with spectators invited to watch the live installation as she adds an array of WA wildflowers and blossoms to the sign.
Originally from Scotland — where she worked as a retail florist then in-house florist at The Ritz in London — Cummings has called Perth home for the past 17 years while building a reputation for larger-than-life installations and floral street art.

Her signature style of flower arranging has been described as earthy, dishevelled, evocative and feminine, combining natural dried textures and luxurious fresh blooms.
Those partaking in a selfie with the sign are invited to enter a competition by tagging their selfie with #YaganSquareBlooms and @YaganSquare on social media for the chance to win a $300 voucher to dine at any of Yagan Square’s restaurants. Entries close 5pm, Tuesday September 19.

The sign will return to its former glory on Wednesday September 20 to coincide with IGA Purple Bra Day.
On that day complimentary bouquets will be given away from 7am, and recipients will be encouraged to pay it forward with a gold coin donation to Breast Cancer Care WA’s annual street appeal.
Volunteers will be stationed throughout Yagan Square for IGA Purple Bra Day to collect the gold coin donations.
