A newborn baby boy and two women have died in a catastrophic crash in the Mid West on Saturday night.
Police say the infant and a woman in her 20s died when a Toyota HiLux rolled on Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road, just east of the Gabyon-Tardie Road intersection, in Yalgoo about 10.50pm.
It is understood the infant was just weeks old.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service flew four adults were flown to Perth — two from Geraldton and two from Mt Magnet — to Royal Perth Hospital in a critical condition.
Sadly, one of the adults, a woman in her 30s, has since died in hospital.
Major crash officers were travelling to the scene on Sunday to conduct an examination of the scene.
Premier Roger Cook said it was a “horrible, horrible incident”.
“Three people have lost their lives in tragic, tragic circumstances,” he said.
“Because of where that situation is, the first responders were largely volunteers. So, our hearts go out to the families of the victims and the first responders; we thank them for their incredible work.
“It must have been a harrowing scene, and we wish everyone who is touched by this incident all the best.”
It comes as a 28-year-old man died in a crash near Perth Airport in the early hours of Sunday.
Police say the man was driving on Tonkin Highway, south of Dunreath Drive, in Redcliffe, when he crashed about 1.45am.
Anyone with information regarding the Yalgoo crash or who saw the Toyota Hilux being driven in the time leading up to the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online.
