Yallingup fire: Residents in WA’s South West warned to leave as properties, lives come under threat

UPDATE: Authorities have downgraded an emergency level fire that was putting lives and properties under threat in the Yallingup area on Monday afternoon.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued an emergency warning for people in parts of Yallingup, Yallingup Siding and Yelverton in the City of Busselton about 3.20pm.

People in those areas were asked to “act immediately to survive”.

“There is a threat to lives and homes,” DFES stated.

Those in the area should leave now for a safer place. Those who cannot leave, should get ready to shelter in their homes.

An hour later the fire was “contained but not controlled” and the warning was downgraded to watch and act level.

Several popular wineries and eateries are situated in the warning area, including Swings and Roundabouts and Aravina Estate, as well as the Yallingup Maze and Mini Golf.
