Zero + Maria Cornejo Fall 2024 Ready to Wear Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

Maria Cornejo continued her affinity for polished silhouettes for fall 2024, offering a range of classic dresses, separates and outerwear that fit in with her luxury clientele’s minimalist aesthetic.

“The collection, it’s the idea of a wardrobe and peeling off the layers,” Cornejo said. “The idea is being more put together, but not a suit because the reality is our woman doesn’t wear a suit. I mean, they look really cute, and I love a jacket, but most women don’t.”

The collection offered many classic silhouettes that embodied an easy femininity, such as several draped dresses created in jewel tones like emerald and a golden yellow, as well as sturdy outerwear made from leather and wool.

Continuing the designer’s commitment to sustainability, the collection was created with an array of environmentally conscious materials like recycled cashmere, circular denim and eco-drape, which is created from upcycled materials.

The collection’s use of black and jewel tones coupled with the classic silhouettes gave the styles a luxurious feel. The designer focused on one print this season — which was inspired by a poster-filled wall at Cornejo’s local Bedstuy subway station — that gave the mature styles an eye-catching and playful twist.

Cornejo also looked to her archives for fall 2024, updating a dress style she designed in 1998 in new colors. She offered a new version of her leather and wool wrap coat as the style has become a bestseller among her clientele.

Overall the collection showed Cornejo’s understanding of her luxury clientele and how to create classic, polished pieces from an array of sustainable materials.
