Apple’s various AirPods models are super popular among Apple fans for so many reasons. I myself have been an AirPods user since the 1st-generation model was released back in 2016, and I’ve upgraded several times since then. Apple’s 2nd-generation AirPods earbuds are now on sale for just $79.99 at both Amazon and Walmart, matching the lowest price ever. AirPods happens to be one of the only popular Apple products you can get brand-new for under $100. That’s just one reason this model has a whopping 520,000+ 5-star ratings on Amazon. But believe it or not, there are actually two ways that Apple’s cheap AirPods outshine the pricey AirPods Pro model.

The active noise cancellation feature is great, and the sound quality is also pretty good on AirPods Pro 2. That being said, there are some instances when I don’t necessarily like using them.
Even with Apple’s Adaptive Transparency feature, there are times when you don’t want sound isolation and would prefer open earbuds instead. On top of that, AirPods Pro 2 are quite expensive. Even on sale at the best price ever, they still cost $179.99.
Apple’s 2nd-generation entry-level AirPods have all the same great integrations with Apple devices. Pair them once with one of your Apple devices, and they’ll instantly be paired with any other devices that are logged into the same iCloud account. Switching between devices is fast and easy. Plus, you’ll get detailed battery information on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac, which definitely comes in handy.
On top of that, they offer terrific sound quality for open earbuds. And they’re great for people in cities or people who run because you can actually hear what’s going on around you while you’re listening to your music or a podcast. Earbuds with silicon tips and noise cancelling earphones can sometimes be dangerous to use.
So, if you think about it, that’s two different advantages that entry-level AirPods have over Apple’s top-of-the-line AirPods Pro.
- Apple’s entry-level AirPods are MUCH cheaper than AirPods Pro. At $129, the retail price is $120 lower. Even now, while both models are down to the lowest prices ever, entry-level AirPods are still $100 less expensive.
- Entry-level AirPods have an open design without sound isolation or noise cancelling tech. That means you can actually hear what’s going on around you. They’re great for runners, commuters, and anyone else who needs to be able to hear what’s happening around them.
As I mentioned, Amazon and Walmart are offering these popular earbuds brand-new for $79.99. That’s the lowest price ever for this model. They have been discounted for several weeks before now, but the sale price was holding steady at $89.99. This is the first time in a long time that the price has dropped below that mark.
Or, if that deal sells out, Amazon has Apple AirPods 2nd-generation earphones in refurbished condition for as little as $64, depending on what condition you want them in.
