New Delhi: The whole of North India has been facing adverse weather conditions for the last couple of months. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been issuing alerts because of the plunging temperatures which are accompanied with dense fog and poor visibility. Due to the intense cold, the winter vacations for schools across the North Indian states was being extended and once the schools opened, the timings were adjusted to keep the students and teachers safe during this weather. Agra School Timings Changed Due To Cold

As mentioned earlier, there has been a change in the timings for schools in Agra, for all classes – from nursery to class 12. The change in timings come because of the bone-chilling weather UP has been experiencing for the past two months along with dense fog. Media reports have cited the Basic Education Officer of the district who announced that from Monday, February 12, 2024, students from nursery to class 12, will begin from 10:00 AM until further notice.

Cold Weather Conditions Grip North India

India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted minimum temperatures in the range of 5-10 °C over most parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, among others, were said to be below normal over the region. IMD on Friday reported the lowest minimum temperature of 2.7°C at Sikar in East Rajasthan. The cold wave was observed in isolated pockets of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh yesterday. Earlier, cold weather and dense fog prevailed in Delhi and several places in Uttar Pradesh, delaying flights, trains, and other modes of transportation.

Currently also, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing shallow fog in particular areas, resulting in delays and sometimes cancellation of both trains and flights. It is in this weather, that road accidents also become extremely common. The cold conditions are expected to persist as the high-altitude areas like Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir have been experiencing snowfall.
