Agra Schools Closed Till Tomorrow up to Class 8 Due to Cold Weather |

NEW DELHI: In view of the rising cold wave conditions in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, the district magistrate (DM) has reportedly given orders to announce holiday for students up to Class 8 till tomorrow, January 24. Schools for these classes will resume on January 25 and for Class 9 to 12, school hours have been adjusted to operate from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM during this period.
As per local media reports, holiday in Agra schools has been extended for up to Class 8 of UP Board, CBSE and other boards due to the extreme cold weather.
In Lucknow schools, the DM has directed the implementation of online classes until January 27. Additionally, instructions have been issued to install room heaters in classrooms. Students and parents living in any district of UP are advised to get in touch with their respective school administrations for all the queries related to school closure and holiday.
As per the India Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog was noted in isolated pockets of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar at 5:30 AM on Monday.
The North India region is expected to experience cold to severe cold day conditions for the next four to five days, said IMD. The department has forecasted the continuation of cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in a majority of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.
“V Fog conditions observed (at 0830 hours IST of today): Dense to very Dense Fog observed in some parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh; in isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Assam; Dense Fog in some parts of Punjab, Delhi, Bihar,” IMD posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

In other news, a public holiday was announced in UP schools on January 22 in view of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed the declaration of a holiday in all educational institutions on January 22. In response to the prevailing cold wave, the timings for secondary classes up to Class 12 have been adjusted to begin at 10 AM instead of 8:50 AM.
Furthermore, UP CM announced that there would be a statewide prohibition on the sale of liquor on the day of the Ram Temple inauguration ceremony.
