KUWAIT CITY, May 23: In the 58th edition of the Al-Ittihad Basketball Championship, Al-Qadisiya emerged victorious, defeating Kazma 97-92 in a thrilling final match held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. Kuwait Club secured third place by defeating Al-Qurain with a score of 111-94. This marked a significant shift as Kuwait Club relinquished the championship throne, which it had held for the past seven editions.
Al-Qadisiya Club now boasts the most championship wins with 26 titles, followed by Kuwait Club with 16 titles, Al-Arabi Club with nine, and Kazma Club with three. Additionally, Al-Jahra, Al-Sahel, and Al-Nasr have each clinched the championship once.
The final match was graced by the presence of the Basketball Association’s Board of Directors, including Dhari Burgess, Sheikh Fahad Talal Al-Fahad, and Hassan Abu Al-Hassan. Burgess congratulated Al-Qadisiya Club on its victory, highlighting the significance of their return to the podium after a six-year hiatus.
Sheikh Fahad Talal Al-Fahad attributed Al-Qadisiya’s success to the meticulous work of the club’s administrative and technical bodies, as well as the dedication of the players. He expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support, acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by Kazma.
Looking ahead, Al-Fahd emphasized Al-Qadisiya’s aspirations for future Asian and Arab competitions, anticipating further growth and development for the team.
