Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2024 – WWD

Keeping her focus on the needs of women, Alberta Ferretti injected her signature sophistication into a versatile pre-fall offering that could dress them from day to night.

“Daywear is growing and getting a strong identity itself,” said the designer, who’s been increasingly boosting the category and building a credible counterpart to her ethereal chiffon gowns.

For pre-fall, Ferretti continued to elevate everyday wardrobe staples with special touches. Playing with masculine and feminine tropes, she revisited checkered shirts with transparencies, cut pinstripe tailoring in elongated lines and then toyed with proportions with ample pleated satin pants that were particularly handsome in their movement.

Ferretti’s quest for enhancing motion through clothes was also expressed by a floral print she turned graphic via striped patterns, which gave a sense of dynamism to fluid separates. Other silk options came with lingerie-inspired details, as seen in shorts she boldly paired with a leather jacket with lizard effect, or sensual slipdresses trimmed with lace.

Even when she indulged in her signature eveningwear, the designer kept silhouettes unfussy, yet prettily constructed with pleats or leaving space for personal interpretation. “I like when a woman plays with her wardrobe and the garments she wears,” Ferretti said while showing different ways to style a chiffon tunic over a long dress.
