Apple’s Project Titan was supposed to revolutionize transportation, but the tech giant pulled the plug earlier this year. However, the latest rumors suggest the project might not entirely be dead.
Details are vague and should be taken with a grain of salt, but DigiTimes says “speculation has surfaced among supply chains that Apple is studying the possibility of working with an electric vehicle startup company.” The publication goes onto say that “Rivian is a very likely candidate.”

However, information is limited and it’s not entirely clear what a partnership or collaboration could involve. Given that, it’s probably best not to read too much into things at this point.
That being said, there are a few possible scenarios that could make sense. One is that Apple could be looking to recoup some of the costs related to Project Titan by selling or licensing some of the technology created over the course of the past decade. This could potentially include things such as autonomous driving technology.
It’s also possible the rumors are wrong or have nothing to do with Project Titan. That remains to be seen, but Apple’s automotive efforts weren’t entirely focused on the so-called iCar. Quite the opposite as the firm is working on a new version of CarPlay, which is far more advanced and has access to additional vehicle systems.
