APPSC Group 2 Prelims 2024: The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released the hall ticket for the APPSC Group 2 prelims recruitment exam 2024 on its official website, psc.ap.gov.in. The preliminary examination round, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 25, 2024, has now released its admit cards.
The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission’s recruitment drive aims to fill 899 executive and non-executive posts across various departments of the AP state government.
Candidates appearing for the examination can download their admit cards by logging in to the APSC’s official website with their OTPR ID and password. Candidates can also use the direct link to download their admit cards.
Examination pattern
According to the notification, candidates will go through a two-stage written test with a maximum cumulative score of 450 marks.
The exam, which will be held in multiple stages, is currently going to commence its first stage i.e Preliminary (Screening) Test, for a total of 150 marks. Candidates qualifying the prelims round will be eligible to appear for the main exam.
The 150 marks is divided majorly into two themes- General Studies and Mental Ability. Topic wise breakup of the prelims syllabus is as follows-

Detailed syllabus for APPSC Group 2 Prelims 2024
As previously stated, the exam is divided into five sections, each with 30 marks. Here is an overview of the topics under the different sections.
Current Affairs
Major current events include:

  • International: Significant global developments and occurrences that impact international relations, diplomacy, and geopolitics.
  • National: Key events, policies, and issues shaping the socio-political, economic, and cultural landscape of the nation.
  • State of Andhra Pradesh: Important happenings, policies, and challenges specific to the state, encompassing political, economic, social, and cultural aspects.

Mental Ability
In the Mental Ability section, the topics covered are:

  • Logical Reasoning (Deductive, Inductive, Abductive): This includes Statement and Assumptions, Statement and Argument, Statement and Conclusion, and Statement and Courses of Action.
  • Mental Ability: This covers Number Series, Letter Series, Odd Man Out, and Coding – Decoding. It also includes problems related to Relations, Shapes, and their Subsections.
  • Basic Numeracy: This encompasses Number System, Order of Magnitude, Averages, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, and Time and Distance. Additionally, it includes Data Analysis using Tables, Bar Diagrams, Line Graphs, and Pie-charts.

Geography

  • General and Physical Geography: Covers topics such as the Earth in our Solar System, Interior of the Earth, Major Landforms, Climate, Structure, and Composition of the Atmosphere, Ocean Water, including Tides, Waves, and Currents. Also includes insights into the physiographic features, climate, drainage system, soils, vegetation, and natural hazards and disasters management of India and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Economic Geography of India and AP: Explores natural resources distribution, agriculture, agro-based activities, major industries, industrial regions, transport, communication, tourism, and trade.
  • Human Geography of India and AP: Focuses on human development, demographics, urbanization, migration, and various social groups like racial, tribal, religious, and linguistic groups.

Indian Society
Topics covered under Indian Society are-

  • Structure of Indian Society: Discusses the structure of Indian society, including aspects such as family, marriage, kinship, caste, tribe, ethnicity, religion, and women.
  • Social Issues: Addresses critical social issues such as casteism, communalism, regionalization, crimes against women, child abuse, child labor, youth unrest, and agitation.
