Ariana Grande’s awkward Met Gala interview at top of steps with Vogue

Ariana Grande had a seemingly awkward encounter after walking the red carpet of the Met Gala during which she appeared dazed during an interview.

The 30-year-old singer and actress stunned on the red carpet at fashion’s annual night of nights in an opulent mother-of-pearl dress.

Grande’s custom Loewe look featured a bustier iridescent dress complete with a hand-pleated, multi-layered skirt in silk chiffon.

After walking the famous Met steps, the Wicked star stopped for a chat with La La Anthony for Vogue in which she spoke about her interpretation of this year’s Garden of Time theme.

However, it seemed at one point she had trouble hearing during the interview.

After being asked about the hyped-up film adaptation of Wicked in which she plays Glinda, Grande told the TV personality about her struggle to hear.

“I can’t hear anything, it’s so loud,” she said with a dazed giggle.

Grande then went on to give absolutely nothing away about the new project she co-stars with Cynthia Erivo.

Her battle to stay focused seemed to cause the interview to fall a bit flat.

“I wish I could say more than I can, you’ll know more soon,” she said.

“(Wicked) has been an extraordinary, transformative experience I’ve ever had in my life.”

Grande, who released her new album Eternal Sunshine in March, also said how her gown’s designer Jonathan Anderson had a vision of wanting her to be adorned in mother-of-pearl.

“It’s coincidentally my birth stone, I love the tie in of opulence with hues of pink and green,” she said.

“It’s the perfect thing.”

The night in New York marked Grande’s second time attending the Met Gala.

The last time Grande attended was in 2018, for the Heavenly Bodies theme in which she wore a custom Vera Wang gown that was screen-printed with imagery from Michelangelo’s The Last Judgement.

Wicked is due for release in November.
