Australia’s Bared Footwear opens first US store in NYC

Australian footwear brand Bared Footwear made its New York City debut on Thursday with the opening of its first brick-and-mortar store outside of its home country.

Located in the heart of Soho at 152 Spring St, the new store was a logical next step for the brand after 15 years of predominantly selling footwear in Australia, as its U.S. customer base continues to grow through its online business. 

“Opening the doors to our first store outside of our home country of Australia is a significant landmark for the brand as we look to scale our business in the U.S. and around the world,” said Anna Baird, founder and owner of Bared Footwear. 

“New York is well known as one of the biggest walking cities in the world, so we knew it was the perfect place to start. I’m confident that New Yorkers will love our team of experts and once they try our shoes, they will be addicted to the comfort and support that our footwear provides everyone.”

Built by Turnkey & Bespoke and designed by Ryann Swan Design, the store is characterized by natural textures, lush greenery, and thoughtful design elements to encourage shoppers to slow down and take their time in the store.

Notably, the store opens with an early release of some of the brand’s 2025 summer collection, prior to its launch in Australia, alongside an extensive inventory of products across categories. Similarly to the personalized service found in its Australian flagship stores, the New York location offers a tailored fitting process for every shoe purchase.

With five flagship stores in Australia, the addition of the New York store brings Bared Footwear’s global retail footprint to six locations. Looking ahead, Baird has her sights set on further expansion, with plans to open a retail outlet in New Zealand in July, followed by a store in Los Angeles.
