Best buy for new parents: Recipe book filled with meal ideas for kids hailed a ‘bible’

A newly-released cookbook for parents of young children and babies starting solids for the first time has become a bestseller almost overnight, after launching on May 1.

The Baby Food Bible (currently $38.75; Amazon), by Aussie mum pals Julia Tellidis and Lauren Skora, has been hailed a “bible” by new parents struggling to know how to feed their children healthy but delicious meals from six months old and beyond.

As a mum myself, I can safely say the book is packed chock-a-block full of delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas for babies, toddlers and young children.

If you’re nervous about starting solids for the first time, the book says you needn’t be.

Starting from the very beginning, the mums and qualified nutritionists teach you how to introduce solids to your baby’s diets, via a mix of purees and baby-led weaning.

As the book goes on, you can forget about making separate meals for you and your kids.

That’s because the simple recipes in the book are all family favourites that everyone can enjoy — veggie-packed shepherd’s pie anyone? Sign me up!

Many are able to be made in 20 minutes or less, making that end-of-day rush for busy working parents just a little bit easier.

One of my favourite sections in the book is the “Pram Pleasers” section, which includes a host of snacks you can take when heading out for a walk in the pram with your baby.

My daughter never sits in the pram without some sort of food to distract her now, so this section is sure to be a lifesaver.

Since the book was released on May 1, it has shot to the top of the Amazon bestseller list and parents are buying it in their thousands to see what the fuss is about.

While there are no reviews on Amazon yet due to it being so new, I can personally vouch for the quality of the recipes and the appeal of the layout.

I also love the “tips” section in the book, which includes handy tips and tricks for packing your kids full of fruit and veggies, even when they might seem they are at their fussiest.

The book usually costs $49.99, but is currently on Amazon Australia for just $38.75.
