Bettors cash in with ridiculous Caleb Williams No. 1 pick wagers

If you were looking for a few hundred extra bucks before the NFL Draft, I hope you had some big-time cash lying around.

The rumor mill has been swirling in the lead-up to the draft, but there’s one outcome Vegas oddsmakers have been sure of for weeks – Caleb Williams going No. 1 overall.

So much so, FanDuel Sportsbook had been offering odds as low as 1/1000 for the USC quarterback to be the top pick in the hours leading up to Roger Goodell taking the podium in Detroit.

Even with such a small payout – and a monumental risk should the Bears divert from what the NFL world assumed to be common knowledge for weeks – some bettors still bit.

And when Chicago followed suit, selecting Williams with the top selection, those bettors ran into a nice chunk of pocket change.

One bettor at Caesars Sportsbook wagered a whopping $100,000 at 1/200 on Williams going at the top of the draft, winning $500 when that outcome rang true.

Another bettor took a slightly lesser gamble at those same odds, winning $56.28 with a $11,255.25 bet at DraftKings Sportsbook.

A third sports gambler at BetMGM Sportsbook won $100 after he put $10,000 down at 1/100.

Betting on the NFL?

Other Williams No. 1 pick bettors with a little less money to throw around weren’t as fortunate – like another Caesars bettor who, according to Vegas Insider’s Patrick Everson, wagered 10 cents at -1000 in late January to win a penny.

It’s a ridiculous way to use your money, but maybe these bettors will now have the money to catch Williams’ NFL debut in September.
