  • The Tender 5.7 by Estella-Fahrzeugtechnik features a retro carbon fiber body
  • The reverse-restomod is based on the G29 BMW Z4 and will be built in 15 units
  • Under the hood lies a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine tuned for 500 hp

The story about the Elvis Presley’s lost and found BMW 507 Roadster inspired a German company to create a coachbuilt special, using the G29 Z4 as the basis. The Tender 5.7 by Estella-Fahrzeugtechnik features a new retro-styled carbon fiber body and will be limited to just 15 units.

Estella-Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH is based in Grosselfingen, Germany. The modern interpretation of the BMW 507 features a completely redesigned bodywork made of carbon fiber. The round headlights, elongated kidney grille, side gills, and sharp lines on the fenders are clear references to the original.

The interior is largely carried over from the G29 BMW Z4, including the digital cockpit, the Harman Kardon sound system, and all of the switchgear. However, every inch of the two-seater cabin is now covered by custom full-grain leather which can be individually personalized to the taste of each owner.

Under the hood lies the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine of the BMW Z4 M40i, which has been tuned to produce 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. This represents a healthy increase of 165 hp (123 kW / 167 PS) and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) over the stock EU-spec M40i, made possible by a larger turbocharger, a downpipe, and an upgraded exhaust system.

Chassis upgrades include a fully adjustable coilover suspension, combined with a new set of 20-inch forged alloy wheels, which look very similar to the ones from BMW-owned tuner Alpina.

The Tender 5.7 is named after Elvis’ popular song “Love me Tender”. Each of the 15 examples planned for production will be painted in a unique shade. The color palette includes the following options: Turmalin Purple Metallic, Feather White, Verde Ermes, Black Piano Lacquer, Impala brown Metallic, Frozen Grey, Maldives Blue, Ascot Green, Brilliant Red, Steel Blue, Estoril Blue, Byzanz Metallic, Fun Yellow, Oriental Blue, and Cashmere Beige Silver Gold.

According to the official website, two of the 15 pieces have already been sold to customers. Auto Moto Und Sport reports that the price of each Tender 5.7 starts from €288,000 ($312,280), making it around five times more expensive than the BMW Z4 donor car. This kind of money could buy you a BMW Z8 which also features 507-inspired styling cues, albeit in a more attractive package and with a V8 under the hood.
