Bride-to-be slammed as ‘gross and weird’ for ‘appalling’ bridesmaid outfit act

A bride-to-be has been roasted after complaining about her bridesmaid for wanting to wear a suit instead of a dress at her wedding.

The woman – who’s expected to tie the knot in May 2024 – turned to the internet for advice after her bridesmaid asked whether she could wear pants on the big day.

“One of my bridesmaids has just let me know that they would like to wear a suit because wearing a dress would make them uncomfortable as they navigate their personal life,” the bride said.

“Now normally I wouldn’t care however, I’m concerned about three things.”

The bride said she was worried about making the groomsman feel “uncomfortable” when he walks down the aisle hand-in-hand with the suited up bridesmaid.

Secondly, she was concerned the suits would outnumber the dresses.

“Would it look too heavy in photos having now four of the wedding party in suits and two in dresses?” she asked.

Finally, the bride said she has a conservative Christian family so she doesn’t want to disappoint them.

“This would be an issue for my family,” she said.

“And with my parents chipping in, they are already very upset with this news.”

Her concerns were re-shared in a Wedding Shaming Facebook group – with many taking particular issue with the bride for not taking her bridesmaid’s feelings into consideration.

“I am appalled! Her ‘friend’ is not her wedding accessory. Imagine caring more about how your photos look, or how a groomsman will feel if he has to walk next to someone wearing pants instead. Or being worried about how upsetting it would be for your parents because they are contributing financially,” one said.

Another suggested: “One: The groomsman can get over it. Two: You can get over it. It will look fine. Three: They can get over it. Straight people wear pants all the time.”

One shared: “Oh wow, heaven forbid an individual wears a pantsuit and not a dress! What’s next? Showing ankle is too scandalous? Every dress must be a potato sack to cover everything? Why is she prioritising a man’s ‘comfort’ over her friend?”

Another questioned: “So she cares about hypothetically making the groomsman uncomfortable but not quite explicitly making her friend uncomfortable?”

One wrote: “Why is the comfort of the man walking with the bridesmaid for *30 seconds* a higher priority than the bridesmaid’s comfort all day? Just kidding, I know why. Bride sucks and is a bad friend.”

While another added: “That’s gross and weird to worry more about your relatives than a personal friend feeling comfortable in their own skin.”
