Broome man handed good behaviour bond after posting faeces and urine to Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto

A West Australian man has been handed a two-year good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to sending his own faeces and urine through Australia Post to American actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto.

Veronica Grey appeared before Broome Magistrates Court on August 16 charged with five counts of using a postal service to menace, harass or cause offence between February 2 to 8.

As reported by the ABC, the court heard the 49-year-old sent 23 international postal satchels containing his frozen urine and faeces from post offices in Lesmurdie, Perth, High Wycombe and Kalamunda.

The parcels were labelled as “Valentine confectionery” and addressed to Academy award winners DiCaprio and Leto in various locations across California.

Grey knowingly ticked the box on the packaging declaring the satchels did not contain any prohibited items.

In an unfortunate discovery, an Australian Post worker handling the package had its contents leak onto them when ruptured during transit.

Defence lawyer Kaia Gooding said Grey resides in Australia on a temporary bridging visa as a humanitarian and never intended to harass the actors.

After first appearing in court earlier this year carrying a rainbow Pride flag, psychiatric reports revealed Grey acted on impulse without thinking of the consequences due to an adjustment disorder.

Magistrate Deen Potter acknowledged the offending was “rare” but not motivated by malice, imposing a sentence to deter others from committing similar crimes.

Magistrate Potter granted Grey a global penalty of a two-year recognisance bond of $3000.
