Kuwait City, May 1: In a sustained effort to uphold its committed human capital development strategy, Burgan Bank continued its Burgan Talk series of events with a new talk, entitled “A Guide for Working Professionals to Nurturing Healthy Teenagers”. This latest edition was delivered by guest speaker, Dr. Angela Ross from Anara Center, a licensed clinical psychology specialist with over 15 years of experience and holder of a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Auburn University, USA. The event took place under the umbrella of Burgan’s ongoing initiatives designed to promote its employees’ emotional, and psychological health and well-being, both inside the workplace and outside of it.

Commenting on the engaging and fruitful talk, Ms. Zahra Boarki, Senior Manager – Culture and Employee Engagement at Burgan Bank, said: “At the Human Resources Department, we aim to utilize our collective expertise to create a healthy and positive work environment for Burgan’s staff, whom we consider to be one of our top priorities. We are proud of the diverse program of initiatives that we continue to offer our employees, with the aim of supporting them along their journeys of professional development and personal growth. We also firmly believe in the importance of investing in our people’s welfare and holistic wellbeing, ensuring that they are able to enjoy their time at the workplace and outside it and that they are also able to contribute creatively and efficiently to the workplace, which ultimately reflects on the overall success of our institution.”

“Among the primary challenges that face many of the working Burgan parents and their ability to maintain optimal overall health is balancing between their responsibilities as parents and as professionals. These challenges can be especially accentuated in the case of parenting teenagers who may require more attention, patience, and presence than other age groups,” added Boarki. “We understand that these challenges call for additional effort from the parents to guarantee meeting their teenage children’s needs and comprehending their emotional swings and changing social behaviors. That’s why we continue to do all that is in our power to support Burgan parents in their efforts to remain psychologically healthy.”

During the Burgan Talk, Dr. Ross presented valuable information on the most effective self-care means for working parents, especially with regard to mental health, as well as acquiring advanced skills that enable them to balance their responsibilities at home and the workplace. She also tackled some of the top challenges that parents face with raising teenagers, underscoring the importance of building safe and open channels of communication between parents and children, especially in light of the modern challenges posed by social media platforms and their influence on teenagers’ morale and perceptions of themselves and the world. These difficulties are often topped with the financial strain that comes with raising a family, which Dr. Ross dedicated the time to discussing and sharing practical tips on how to handle efficiently.

It serves to note that Burgan Bank seeks to remain an employer of choice within Kuwait’s banking sector, sparing no effort to develop its human capital by consistently launching and maintaining initiatives that aim to hone employees’ personal and professional skills and abilities. The Bank’s Burgan Talk series is set to continue well into 2024 with an agenda of topics that respond directly to the employees’ needs and aspirations for personal and career growth, confirming Burgan’s commitment to fostering an environment of development and innovation.
