  • The iCar 03 SUV will soon be joined by the tougher-looking 03T and the more traditional V23 off-roader.
  • iCar also showed the X25 – a fully electric crossover minivan with futuristic looks
  • The Chery-owned brand will launch 8 new models by 2026, focused on younger customers.

Chinese company iCar may have started with a low-slung GT concept but its lineup is clearly focused on rugged-looking EVs. Following the launch of its first production model – the iCar 03 SUV – in early 2024, the Chery-owned brand revealed the V23 off-roader, the X25 minivan, and the 03T SUV.

The iCar 03T debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, based on the regular 03 but featuring several upgrades to enhance its off-road capabilities. The highlight of the exterior is the wide fender extensions with extra intakes next to the LED headlights, the larger and wider alloy wheels, and the redesigned bumpers which are said to improve the off-road angles.

The add-ons make the 03T slightly bigger than the 03, measuring 4,432 mm (174.5 inches) long, 1,916 mm (75.4 inches) wide, and 1,741 mm (68.5 inches) tall. The ground clearance has been increased to 200 mm (7.9 inches), while the 2,715 mm (106.9 inches) wheelbase is identical to the iCar 03.

The underpinnings and powertrain options have been carried over. This means that the 03T will be available in rear-wheel-drive form with single electric motor with 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS), or a dual-motor AWD setup producing a combined 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS).

The second model that made its public debut in Beijing is the iCar X25. Its unconventional design combines the single-box proportions of a futuristic minivan with a raised stance, and rugged bumpers found in off-road vehicles. The result looks like a space exploration vehicle, making it hard to believe that this EV will make it to production.

The ultra-short overhangs and the generous ground clearance hint at great off-road capabilities, especially if combined with an AWD powertrain and the right set of tires. At the same time, the long wheelbase, the tall body, and the flat floor of the electric architecture promise a spacious interior with “flexible seat combinations” making the X25 ideal for camper conversions. The company didn’t give away any technical specifications, but said that the underpinnings will offer “excellent handling and stability”.

The third model that appeared on the show is the iCar V23. This one combines design features from popular off-roaders including the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the Land Rover Defender, and the classic Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, in a rather successful manner. In Beijing, iCar displayed a cool spec of the V23 with a green shade and black steelies shod in grippy tires. The 4,220 mm (166.1 inches) long EV will be available in RWD and AWD flavors, promising up to 500 km (311 miles) of range thanks to a CATL-sourced battery pack and coming with Level 2+ ADAS capability.

iCar wants to attract younger customers in China by planning to launch 8 new models by 2026, dividing its lineup into three different groups. The 0 Series will be focused on “exquisite technology”, the V series will be characterized by off-road style, while the X series will comprise single-box minivans.
