CUET UG May 24 exam postponed for candidates allotted test centres outside Silchar

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a rescheduling of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) exam scheduled for tomorrow, May 24. The examination has been postponed for those candidates only who opted for Silchar as the examination centre and have received the admit card for the CUET UG 2024 for another city due to logistic reasons.
Some candidates were allotted exam centres outside Silchar for Bengali (104) and Environmental Studies (307) test papers to be conducted in Computer-based Test (CBT) mode.
“Due to logistical constraints, some candidates were assigned their examination Centres outside Silchar for Bengali (104) and Environmental Studies (307) test papers to be conducted in CBT mode on 24 May 2024,” reads the official notification.

Based on their representation to change their examination centre to Silchar only and to support the students’ community, the NTA has decided that for those candidates who will not be able to reach their assigned centres, their examination will be now held on May 29, 2024. The updated CUET admit cards will be available shortly on the official website of NTA at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/.
The NTA is conducting the CUET (UG) 2024 Examination in Hybrid mode (CBT and Pen & Paper) Mode on May 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, and 24, 2024 at various Examination Centers located in 379 cities including 26 cities outside India, for about 13.48 lakh candidates.
Candidates who have already arrived in their examination city as indicated on their current admit card may still take the exam on May 24, 2024. All affected candidates are encouraged to utilise this opportunity to ensure they can sit for their exams.
Earlier, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has requested the National Testing Agency to establish additional examination centers for the Common University Entrance Test 2024 in Barak Valley.

The Barak Valley in Assam comprises of three districts – Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. All colleges within these districts are affiliated with Assam University, situated in Silchar. However, there is currently only one CUET exam center designated in Silchar.
Pegu’s letter highlighted the challenges encountered by students who must journey to Agartala (Tripura), Shillong (Meghalaya), and Guwahati to sit for exams in subjects such as Bengali and Environmental Science (EVS).
