David Morris unveils new Riviera collection

David Morris, the swish London fine jewelry brand with roots in the Swinging Sixties, has unveiled a new collection, and gone south for inspiration. It is called Riviera.

Known for attiring multiple beauties in precious stones in Bond films, David Morris has taken a decidedly coastal twist with this latest series, with references to the French and Italian Riviera.
 
Like a small stream of diamonds and sapphires that blend in some superb bracelets, mixing white diamonds with pink sapphires. While the subtle curve of a necklace suggests a sunset illuminated cove on the Côte d’Azur.

Founded in 1962 by David Morris, a skilled trained goldsmith with a desire to create modernist jewelry statements, the house is still family owned. In its seven decades David Morris has been commissioned to create jewels for the likes of Gianni Versace and Barbara Streisand, while its gems have starred in the opening title sequence of the James Bond movie Diamonds are Forever.
 
London-based David Morris is the only Bond Street jewelry brand to retain its own High Jewelry atelier on its premises. Besides its New Bond Street flagship, David Morris also boats stores in Harrods, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
 
Riffing on the house’s clever technical excellence in this new collection, David Morris also showed a Riviera necklace, with adjustable diamond encrusted strap at the back. Priced at £275,000, it was presented recently on the Continent in Mimosa, the happening restaurant of master chef Jean-François Piège inside the recently restored Hotel de la Marine at Paris’s most famous square – Place de la Concorde.
 
In a nod to David Morris’s trademark sprung mechanism, there’s also a hyper elegant  Riviera Bangle in white diamonds priced at £145,000. The collection even includes Riviera Hoop earrings, light drops of sunshine dappling two white gold circles that cost £35,000.
