Doja Cat wears towel to Met Gala, changes into see-through ‘wet-look’ dress

Doja Cat knows a shocking fashion moment will get people talking and what better way to get tongues wagging than to wear what some might call a series of controversial outfits to the biggest fashion celebration in the world.

The US rapper and singer left the Mark Hotel on her way to the Met Gala on Monday, where she posed alongside Vetements creative director Guram Gvasalia in nothing but a white towel across her body.

She also wore a towel on her head, acrylic platform pumps and a diamond necklace.

By the time the 28-year-old arrived at the red carpet of the Met, she had changed into another look that went with her “freshly showered” theme.

Doja posed for photographers in a white Vetements gown that had been given a “wet look” by using hair gel.

She paired the look with stunning glam that included glittery painted teardrops falling from her smoky eye look with her natural hair styled in a clean buzz cut.

However, some online Met Gala fashion critics didn’t approve of her wardrobe choice.

“So unclassy,” one person said on X. “She’s making a joke of the Met Gala, stop inviting her.”

“A mess, ban her immediately,” another X user said.

Another wrote: “Doja Cat should be banned from the #metgala if this is the final look…”

The singer’s towel ensemble was also compared to looks previously worn by Rita Ora and Lady Gaga.

“Not Doja Cat dressing up as Lady Gaga backstage of Oscars 2019,” one person wrote.

“Rita Ora did it first,” another said, sharing an image of Ora at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The Paint the Town Red singer teased the dramatic red-carpet moment for fans in the lead up to the prestigious night.

Doja was photographed around New York City with Gvasalia, wearing outfits such as a strategically draped bedsheet gown and a Saran Wrap–inspired two-piece set.

At a pre–Met Gala party on Sunday night, she wore a pleather cape with nothing underneath but underwear and sheer tights.
