Stone, known for her roles in acclaimed films like “La La Land” and “Poor Things,” disclosed that she initially adopted the name Emma professionally due to the unavailability of her preferred choice, Emily, when registering with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
Reflecting on her journey as an actress, Stone shared her decision to revert to her birth name, expressing a longing for her original identity. “I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily,’” she confessed during the interview.
