  • Lexus has introduced an entry-level LM minivan in Japan.
  • It has six-seats and a luxurious second-row with a retractable 14-inch display.
  • The model costs the equivalent of nearly $96,000.

Lexus has quietly introduced the new LM500h L, a luxurious six-seat version of the company’s minivan.

Currently available in Japan, the model slots beneath the four-seat LM500h Executive and promises to provide a “comfortable ride in any seat.” However, the second-row is the place to be as there are six-way power seats with heating and ventilation as well as an ottoman.

The second-row seats feature “two types of shock absorbing material” and feature “anti-vibration rubber” between the cushion and leg frame. Besides offering a comfortable and relaxing place to sit, the seats have removable touchscreen controllers that can adjust an assortment of vehicle settings.

In particular, Lexus mentioned a Rear Climate Concierge that has four preset modes – Dream, Relax, Focus and Energize – which automatically adjust the climate control system, seat position, sunshades, and interior lighting for optimal effect. If the presets aren’t to your liking, the settings can be customized.

The seats also have a cup holder, magazine rack, and a retractable table that’s hidden in the armrest. The latter is made out of magnesium and features an upholstered surface that “improves the texture and provides anti-slip and scratch-resistant functionality.”

The amenities don’t end there as second-row occupants will find a glass roof and an overhead console that sports a retractable 14-inch display. The latter enables passengers to watch TV or videos using HDMI, USB or Miracast.

The rear of the front center console is also geared towards second-row passengers. It features air vents, a 1500 watt outlet, an HDMI port, and a storage compartment.

The third-row seats are pretty tame by comparison, but Lexus said they “gently embrace and support occupants.” They offer manual slide and recline as well as small center ‘trays.’ When not in use, they can apparently be flipped up and out of the way.

Elsewhere, there are heated and ventilated front seats, a color head-up display, and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. Buyers will also find herringbone pattern wood trim and 17- or 19-inch wheels.

Power is provided by a hybridized, 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. It’s joined by a rear eAxle, which gives the minivan all-wheel drive.

Pricing starts at ¥15,000,000 ($95,727), which undercuts the four-seat variant by ¥5,000,000 ($31,905).
