Fans go wild as Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer reunite for Super Bowl ad

Friends stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, who played couple Rachel Green and Ross Geller on the hit TV show, are back together again.

But unfortunately, Aniston can’t quite seem to remember who her former co-star is, in a cute new Super Bowl LVIII ad for Uber Eats.

Released on Tuesday, the ad features Aniston, among others, ‘forgetting’ something about her life.

The ‘memory lapse’ is to make sure she has enough room in her head to remember that food delivery service Uber Eats delivers more than just sustenance.

“Have we met?” Aniston asks Schwimmer, who attempts to go in for a hug after spotting her on a busy Hollywood set, only to be met by Aniston’s confusion.

A befuddled Schwimmer reminds her they worked together for a decade, but she just can’t place him.

“You still don’t remember, do you?” he asks.

“I hate this town,” he quips, as Aniston walks away muttering, “Like I could forget 10 years of my life.”

As if anybody could actually forget when Schwimmer and Aniston kept viewers on the edge of their seats as their characters’ on-again off-again romance played out on Friends, which ran from 1994 to 2004.

Friends followed a group of six friends and roommates as they navigate work, relationships and the comical moments of everyday life while living in New York City.

The show also starred Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and the late Matthew Perry, who died in October.

Despite Aniston’s ‘memory lapse’ in the ad spot, the reunion between these two old friends is welcome, given they haven’t shared the screen since appearing on the Friends reunion special in 2021.

Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show performer Usher, musician Jelly Roll and David and Victoria Beckham are also featured in the campaign forgetting some pretty integral things about their lives.

In one segment, David Beckham says to his former Spice Girl wife: “Remember when you used to be a Pepper Lady?”

“Wasn’t it the Cinnamon Sisters?” Victoria (wearing a T-shirt that reads ‘David’s Wife’) responds.

“The Basil Babes?” David answers.

“The Paprika Girls? Nah. That’s absurd.”

When the ad was posted to YouTube, fans went wild, especially over the Aniston/Schwimmer segment.

“It’s always heartwarming when any of the Friends cast re-unite,” one fan said.

“All I see is Ross and Rachel.”

“The Jen and David one has restored my happiness,” noted another.

“The David Schwimmer Jennifer Aniston ad is all I’ll be watching this Super Bowl,” wrote a third.

Other fans had suggestions for how the scene should have played out.

“They missed the opportunity for David to go on a rampage after his Uber Eats delivery driver once he discovers that his sandwich delivery is missing after being just left on his doorstep.

“Then he could finally track them down only to discover it’s Jennifer.”

“Am I the only one who thinks it would have made it 10x more hilarious if she said, ‘Like I could forget we were on a break’ instead of ‘Like I’d forget 10 years of my life?’,” wrote another, referring to an oft-repeated famous line in Friends.

Aniston and Schwimmer sparked dating rumours after the emotional 2021 Friends reunion when they admitted to “crushing on each other” in the past.

During the reunion special, the stars said they were always dating other people and never acted on their feelings towards each other.

“The first season I had a major crush on Jen,” Schwimmer said.

“At some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship.

“And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”

He went on to say the pair would “cuddle on the couch” when they had breaks from rehearsal.

“We would spoon and fall asleep on the couch and I kept thinking, how did not everyone know we were crushing on each other?”

Aniston also said she and Schwimmer had talked about whether their first kiss would be in character.

“Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television’,” she said.

“Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.

“We just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”

Later, a source said the reunion had “stirred up feelings” between the two.

“After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there,” the source told Closer.

“They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA.”

Social media went into overdrive, but the pair quickly shot down rumours they were dating, with representatives for both stars telling Closer the pair were just friends.
