Ferrari Teases New V12-Powered Model, Debuts May 3

  • Ferrari teased a new model that will come fitted with a glorious sounding V12 powertrain.
  • The yet-unnamed Ferrari is expected to replace the 812 Superfast retaining the front-engined layout.
  • The unveiling has been confirmed for May 3.

Ferrari will unveil a new supercar on May 3, 2024, fitted with its glorious V12 engine. The model which appeared in a set of teaser videos on social media will most likely be the successor to the 812 Superfast, continuing Maranello’s legacy of front-engined sports cars with 12-cylinder powerplants.

The teasers show very little of the upcoming Ferrari which is internally codenamed F167. We can see part of the bodywork – likely the rear deck – bearing the traditional Ferrari lettering, and we get a glimpse of the shield which is usually mounted on the front fenders.

The other video is focused on the V12 powertrain. The company shows late Enzo Ferrari sharing a story from the past: “One day Von Karajan said to me: Listening to your 12-cylinder brings forth harmony that no maestro will ever be able to interpret”. Enzo is referring to Herbert von Karajan, an Austrian orchestra conductor who was also Ferrari owner and a big fan of the V12 sound.

The teaser ends with a blurry clip of the V12-powered Ferrari accelerating from standstill, giving us an idea of the sound experience.

Our spy photographers have caught the Ferrari 812 successor on several occasions during development testing in Italy. Early mules featured a modified and widened Ferrari Roma bodywork, hiding the V12 internals. In more recent sightings, prototypes were spotted wearing the production body, albeit with heavy camouflage on.

Ferrari hasn’t shared details about the latest iteration of the V12 engine. However, keeping up with the Maranello’s tradition, we expect it to be more powerful than the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 of the Ferrari 812 Competizione which was good for 818 hp (610 kW / 829 PS) and 695 Nm (513 lb-ft) of torque.

Rivals of the new Ferrari will include the Aston Martin Vanquish, which is set to debut soon with a twin-turbo V12 producing 824 hp (614 kW / 835 PS) and 1,000 Nm (737.6 lb-ft) of torque.
