The new-age 2024 2Dodge Charger in both coupe and sedan forms certainly has a unique appeal to it, but only time (and sales figures) will tell if it builds on the success of its predecessors and proves popular among muscle car enthusiasts. For those seeking something a little more traditional, this heavily modified Dodge Challenger could be perfect.

This Challenger is a 2021 model, but you probably wouldn’t realize that by just looking at it from the outside. That’s because sections of the original bodywork have been swapped out and replaced with parts aimed at mimicking the design of a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. All of these new components have been handmade from fiberglass and you could be easily fooled into thinking this was a real ‘Cuda from afar.

Up front, you’ll find a chrome grille accent, four headlights, and two additional fog lights, complemented by a prominent black splitter. The car rides on 20×11-inch Rallye wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, sporting a striking Sassy Grass Green paint job adorned with Hemi vinyls.
However, when viewed from the side, the car’s proportions may seem a bit peculiar, appearing notably shorter than an original ‘Cuda. Nonetheless, it maintains a pleasing aesthetic. At the rear, classic elements persist with a fixed wing, chrome bumper, and dual tailpipes.
While the builder of the car has gone to great lengths to revamp the exterior, the interior of the vehicle remains largely unchanged from a standard 2021 Dodge Challenger, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Similarly, the original 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine has been left unaltered, but does include the desirable Shaker package with a large cutout on the hood to house the large scoop.

Mecum Auctions is selling the car at its Indy 2024 event on May 18th with 2,975 miles (4,787 km) on the clock. This isn’t the first time the auction house has sold a modern Challenger that’s been converted to look like a 1971 ‘Cuda. In January, it sold a purple 2022 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye with a handbuilt carbon fiber body and a largely stock interior.
