Timberwolves-Nuggets pick
Arguably the two best teams in the NBA start their second-round playoff series tonight when the Denver Nuggets host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Denver is favored by 4.5 points on BetMGM Sportsbook. I get why it is favored by that much, and I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think the Timberwolves moneyline at +155 is a worthy wager.
Minnesota is probably the team that matches up with Denver the best. The Timberwolves split the season series against the Nuggets and their two wins were both by double digits, thanks in part to their top-ranked defense. All of the attention goes to Anthony Edwards and deservedly so, but Minnesota can match Denver’s length and that’s something most teams can’t do.
The Timberwolves also played much better in the first round than the Nuggets did. Minnesota rolled the Suns in three of its four wins, while Denver trailed most of the series against the Lakers and needed two buzzer-beaters to win in five games. And maybe the Lakers are a bit better than the Suns, but the Timberwolves’ level of dominance should be noted.
Minnesota’s bench is also just flat-out better than the Nuggets’ bench and that can’t be overlooked.
Denver certainly deserves to be the favorite tonight, I just think the Timberwolves are good enough to win, so take the Minnesota moneyline with bonus codes NYPNEWS1600 or NYPNEWS.
