The next prestigious international fashion house invited to grace the catwalk at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week has now been revealed. The event’s organizers disclosed on Tuesday, October 10 that Giambattista Valli, the renowned Italian designer known for his opulent couture creations, will take center stage at the 2024 edition of Barcelona Bridal Night. Scheduled for April 17 next year, the event will be held at one of the city’s emblematic venues, as in previous editions of the bridal fashion week.

This strategic move propels the bridal event further along its trajectory of international expansion, driven by the participation of globally acclaimed fashion houses. It’s a long-term endeavor that the Barcelona Bridal Week has diligently pursued over several editions, presenting collections from prominent names like Marchesa, Viktor&Rolf, and Elie Saab. Notably, in the previous Barcelona runway event, the Lebanese couturier Elie Saab held his first bridal fashion show, entirely dedicated to bridal gowns.

“Barcelona stands as the global epicenter of bridal fashion, and staging a runway event here represents the natural evolution for my Love Collection 2025. It will provide me with the ideal platform to express my creative vision,” declared the Roman designer upon the announcement. Launched in 2021, this bridal line from the designer, who is a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, emerged as he ventured into crafting wedding gowns for select, exclusive clients, including Monaco’s Charlotte Casiraghi. His offerings, characterized by romantic and feminine styles, remain faithful to the haute couture and ready-to-wear collections for which the designer is renowned.

Having honed his craft at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, Giambattista Valli collaborated with luxury brands Roberto Capucci and Fendi in Rome before relocating to Paris in 1997. There, the Italian fashion designer continued his training under the guidance of designer Emanuel Ungaro, eventually assuming the creative helm of the ready-to-wear line for the prestigious fashion house. In 2005, he launched his eponymous label, and in Paris, he staged his inaugural ready-to-wear fashion show. Since then, his creations have been worn by internationally renowned celebrities such as Amal Clooney, Rihanna, Queen Rania of Jordan, Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Zendaya, and Jennifer Lopez.

For Albasarí Caro, director of the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, “It is a great privilege to have one of the most cherished haute couture and international fashion brands participate.” Additionally, the event’s foremost authority, scheduled to take place between April 17 and 21 next year, emphasized that “their involvement strategically positions Barcelona as a destination for haute couture brands, transcending the allure of Paris.”

Organized by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Department of Business and Labor of the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona Fashion Week comprises a week-long celebration of fashion and a professional bridal trade show, featuring runway presentations and B2B showcases from over 300 fashion labels. Held under the theme “Now” and sporting an image generated by artificial intelligence, the event is set to return to the Montjuïc venue.
